Privacy Policy
Last updated May 24, 2026
Macroh is an AI-powered calorie and macro tracker. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the Macroh mobile app or visit macroh.in, how we use it, and the choices you have.
We are based in India and comply with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDPA), Apple App Store privacy requirements, and Google Play Data Safety requirements.
1. Information we collect
Account information
When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email address. We use this to identify your account across devices and to contact you about your account.
Health and profile data
During onboarding you can provide your age, gender, height, weight, activity level, and weight goal. This is used solely to calculate your daily calorie and macro targets. You can edit or delete this at any time from Settings.
Meal data
When you scan a meal, the photo is sent to our servers for AI analysis. The resulting meal record (dish names, portions, calories, macros, timestamp) is stored in your account so you can see your diary across devices. We do not retain the photo after analysis is complete — it is discarded within seconds of the response being returned.
Device and usage data
We log basic technical information needed to operate the app: device model, OS version, app version, crash reports, and request timestamps. We do not use third-party advertising identifiers.
Subscription data
If you purchase a subscription, our payment processors (Apple App Store, Google Play, or Razorpay for web purchases) handle your billing details. We receive only your entitlement status (active, expired, cancelled), never your card number.
2. How we use your information
- To identify your dishes and calculate calories and macros
- To sync your meal diary across your devices
- To calculate personalised daily targets using the Mifflin–St Jeor formula
- To process subscription purchases and validate entitlements
- To respond when you contact us
- To diagnose crashes and improve reliability
We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it to train third-party AI models for unrelated purposes.
3. Where your data goes
Macroh uses the following third-party services strictly to operate the product:
- OpenAI — meal photos are sent here for dish identification. OpenAI does not retain image inputs for training under their API terms.
- Firebase Authentication (Google) — sign-in.
- MongoDB Atlas — encrypted storage for your meal diary and profile.
- Render — application hosting.
- RevenueCat — subscription entitlement management.
- Razorpay — web subscription payments (India only).
4. Your rights
Under the DPDPA and the App Store / Play Store rules, you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of all data we hold about you
- Correct — edit your profile and meal entries from inside the app
- Delete — permanently delete your account and all associated data from Settings → Delete Account, or by emailing support@macroh.in
- Withdraw consent — stop using the service at any time
- Grievance redressal — write to us at the address below if you have a complaint about how we handle your data
Account deletion is irreversible and is processed within 7 working days. See our dedicated Delete Account page for the full process.
5. Data retention
We retain your account and meal data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all personal data is removed from our active systems within 7 working days and from backups within 30 days. Meal photos are never retained beyond the few seconds required for AI analysis.
6. Children
Macroh is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided data to us, please contact us and we will delete it.
7. Security
All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Stored data is encrypted at rest by our infrastructure providers (MongoDB Atlas, Firebase). Access to production systems is limited to authorised personnel. We never store passwords — sign-in is handled by Apple and Google.
8. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will notify you in the app and update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of Macroh after a change means you accept the updated policy.
9. Contact us
Questions, requests, or grievances: support@macroh.in.
For grievance redressal under the DPDPA, write to support@macroh.inwith “Grievance” in the subject line. We will acknowledge within 7 working days.
